The story of Sol-Power Africa's inception and journey is truly collaborative of inspirational African American Muslims who founded a non-profit organization called Soulful Muslims. They rallied together with local Gambians to help a cause of providing water to communities in need in the Gambia. But through the discovery of providing solar-powered well the community found a way to use solar power panels to charge batteries to power homes and other electrical devices. It was with that realization that the need for sustainable electrical power was also a dire need.  With this newfound knowledge driven by the passion and shared vision of  Imam Johari and Natavia Clarke became committed to bringing sustainable and renewable energy solutions to communities in need across Africa. Their combined expertise, experiences, and passion laid the foundation for Sol-Power Africa's mission to increase the well-being, capacity and access to sustainable water, light and power.

Imam Johari's background in fundraising and water provision in regions like Sudan and the Gambia, coupled with Natavia's advocacy for African American engagement in mission work, provided a strong platform for Sol-Power Africa's formation. Collaborations with organizations like Soulful Muslims, FFAMM, and GMEI further strengthened the initiative and helped mobilize resources and support for projects in the Gambia.

The realization that providing electrical power could fundamentally transform communities by enabling access to solar power and water that will aid in irrigation, education, and health. This holistic and broader perspective not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for sustainable development and empowerment.

The impact achieved over the last three years highlights the effectiveness of Sol-Power Africa's approach and the dedication of its partners and supporters. Through ongoing projects and partnerships, Sol-Power Africa continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in the Gambia, demonstrating the transformative potential of renewable energy solutions in addressing critical challenges and fostering development.
